Down at the Station

Another picture from Abilene, Kansas. This was taken at the old Rock Island Railroad station there. I converted it to black and white and kind of liked it better than the color version.
I am real short of time this morning so I will simply close by saying have a great Monday.

And didn't Western Union stop sending telegrams a couple of years ago? I remember it being on the news and telling my mother about it. She was stunned. Telegrams were a big thing when she was young and for her to live to see their demise took her back a bit.

The B&W gives this a nice vintage feel too.

Great lines and angles. The black and white definetly works.

I think it gives it that special touch in black and white.

I like the b&w version better. It forces the eye to focus on the subtlety of the light and of the composition. Color would distract from such a lovely scene.

You've reinforced why rail stations remain such whimsical places. I could hang out at the station in my 'burg forever.
