Study of an Old Pontiac 2

Ok I am playing again. This time I took a shot and did the colored pencil thing in elements. I am not sure I like these special features that you can do. What do you all think?

I hope this day finds everyone well. I appreciate the new arrivals to the blog. I hope you enjoy what you see. Back to normal tomorrow. Just wondered what everyone thought of the Elements creations. Being with few words this morning I will wish everyone a great Thursday.

i actually like this effect...it makes it look old-timey, almost a litle like the tin-types.

i always dabble a little with photoshop b/c i don't have a good camera and can never get the effect i want just by pointing and shooting.

Usually I'm not crazy about these effects, but in this photo it works great. Good one.

Oh, and bluemountainmama, "cheating" has been in place since way before Photoshop. I bumped into a National Geographic photographer once in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and he was taking sunset pictures with an amber filter on his lens. I, on the other hand, was not, so my picture didn't look nearly as colorful as his.

Cheater. Cheating all the way to the bank.

I'm hesitant about the digital effects filters. I know you wouldn't know it by looking at my ID photo, but I don't like to know how the magic was worked. If I can look at a photo and know exactly how it's been retouched, then the effect has to be really worth it for me to approve. For instance, yesterday's shot works really well for me. The grainy black and white is cool with the angles. The colored pencils on today's doesn't make me as happy. I find myself wanting to see what it looked like before the filter.

Cool experiment though and still a wonderful picture.

I try the filters sometimes, but generally am not inspired. I have a few that I really liked, but I don't play with them much any more.

I like your's though. I think this subject matter can be adapted to different looks than a straight scenic shot.

I like playing with different techniques. I think this one works well on this shot. Sometimes it's just fun to see what you can come up with, and sometimes you can save a ho-hum photo.

Very nice Mike...I like it a lot and I think here it adds to the feel of the photo.

I think it adds to the effect of the photo too. I like the old rusty look.
