Mesa Verde

One of the stops I made which I haven't talked about yet is Mesa Verde National Park. I went there on the stormy day and the lighting was not very good but I did get a couple of shots which I was fairly pleased with. This is almost the normal post card shot of Cliff Palace. I like the people in this shot as it gives you a size comparison. Notice how little the doors are compared to us now. The Anastazi, who lived here, were a small people.

When you get out try to go to the National Parks, Monuments and Battlefields you will be richly rewarded.

What a fabulous area to see. My husband has taken tour groups through this area but somehow I never have been there. There is so much beauty to see in each state.

What a spectacular view of the high red rocks and fantastic ancient architecture we can see on this beautiful photo. God knows what interesting story these old walls hide!
P.S. Thanks for your visit and for your nice and kind comments you left on my photos. I really appreciate it a lot. Of course that you couldn’t read the sign that you saw on one of the photos because it is in Bosnian language. As for my camera, since September of this year I have been using Cannon A 460, 5.0 MP, 4x optical zoom lens. My husband bought it to me to make me happy because my old HP had started to make me some problem.

That is so cool. I would SO love to see these things. I didn't know that people could walk among them.

Cliff-dweller ruins were the main attractions we didn't get to see on our Red River, NM trip this summer. I wanted to, but we never made the jaunt.

Great pic. Glad (and a little envious) that you got to see this in person.

This is a great shot of Cliff Palace - the ranger told us the large cliff dwellings were most likely social centers, and that very few actually lived there.

I will second your plea for people to get out and visit the national parks! I read somewhere that visitation to public lands is dropping, especially for young children who grow up in cities, and they have no experiences in the natural environment. That's so sad!

I haven't been to Mesa Verde since I was a kid. I've always loved Indians and wanted to be one. When I was walking around these ruins I thought to myself that I was the only one who had touched that spot on the wall since the people who lived there. :-)
