Not Everyone Was Watching the Bands

I had my 300mm telephoto lens at Ozarko last Saturday which let me get this photo of a tike playing with his mom. I bet if he was looking the other way he wouldn't have been having so much fun, we were about 100 feet above the field. in the MSU stadium. The tilt of the seats is steep and the second level is very high.

I hope to get out and get some new pictures this weekend. Until then have a good weekend.

You have a fixed-length telephoto 300mm? What's the maximum aperture?

My only lens that goes out that far, while a pretty good Nikkor zoom, only opens up to f/5.6 when I'm at 300mm. (well, 300 mm equivalent when it's on my D100).

Beutiful shot Mike! See, you've inspired me to take some "people" shots. You've captured this one very nicely!

Mark,

It is not fixed length it is a 70-300 f/4.5. I use it less now that I got my 10-200 VR lens but it was fun on Saturday. I also used a 2x teleconverter with it and had mixed results. It would have been difficult but I did have my tripod with me. At 600mm I could get in pretty close.

Kerri, I am looking forward to those people shots. I like just random people but have had a couple of friends as Guinea Pigs for my portrait shot trials!

Great picture, very sharp for a telephoto. And you are right that little tike does look like he is having a fun time.

This is a wonderful shot and sometimes people who did not deliberately 'posed' is much better ;D
