President Michael Haverty is a believer in tradition and this new paint scheme is a roll back to the famous Southern Belle passenger train.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Our primary job was to act as paparazzi to arriving guests. Here is a sample of those shots. The third picture is of hosts Joe and Christine Dawes from KSPR TV.
The final shot is of an arriving Oscar. Yes it is a real Oscar that was won by the gentlemen for best song in the Movie Top Gun.
In a strange twist of events I have found that all of my pictures (except the first picture I have shown above) included people. Teresa's pictures were only about 50% people. What is this role reversal and am I sick?
I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

The festivities are just beginning...the requisite limo, friendly volunteers and then the live "Oscar" arrives. The lights are on and the red carpet is out awaiting the arrival of the first guests.
Tomorrow we see some that walked the red carpet including a real Oscar.

Sunday evening the Southwest Missouri Camera Club was asked to act as paparazzi for the Oscar Night America event at the Gillioz Theatre here in Springfield. The Gillioz was one of 75 locations in the nation for this event which is a fund raiser for charity.
I will add pictures from the event over the next few days off and on.
I hope everyone has a great week.

It was kind of a dark, wintry day yesterday as we passed through Golden City, Missouri on our way home from Pittsburg, Kansas. I always tend to take "the long way home." Teresa has gotten used to it. One of my favorites songs is Nora Jones' "Long Way Home" too.
As we were passing through the gold steeple of the First Christian Church caught my eye and I knew it would be a post for a Sunday morning. The pride of its members show through the gold steeple in Golden City!
Hope everyone is doing good. Take care and have a great Sunday!

Today Teresa and I went to the Pittsburg State University Student Association of Photographers Perspectives of Photography seminar. The student photographers of Pittsburg State University (Kansas) put on an excellent seminar. There were 4 sessions and all the speakers were great. We were invited to this by our fellow Southwest Missouri Camera Club member Kim who is an alumni of the Pittsburg program.
This is the second seminar we have done in the last couple of weeks and I find that my batteries have been recharged in this dismal Missouri winter. I absolutely love this hobby.
Today's pictures are of Cooky's Cafe, a famous landmark in the rural Missouri town of Golden City. It will be interesting to see if any of you have ever eaten at Cooky's. I have eaten there with my family many times in the years gone by. They have always been famous for their pies so dessert was always a must.
As you can see the weather was dismal, heavily overcast and at the time I took this picture sleet was coming down. All in all though it was a great day. I love seeing young people enthusiastic about what they are studying and doing. That is what I see at Pittsburg State University.
Get out and recharge your batteries this week. I will be discussing more about the seminar and what it did for me as we go into the coming week.

After a brief side trip we are back to our miniature railway journey. This is once again the Lionel railway of a friend. How many of you remember White Castle Hamburgers or Midget Racers? My friend has recreated scenes that bring back memories to him.
Pull these pictures up and look at some of the detail and have a great week!

Pretend it is the early 1950's. You have journeyed by train to the mountains of Colorado. Perhaps these are some of the scenes you may see along the way. America is in between wars and prosperity is everywhere. I hope to take you back over the next couple of days to a simpler time. The place you will see will seem like Mayberry. Everyone is friendly in this little world and life is good.

There are many this day hurting in Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi. Please keep those in your prayers as the wild and violent weather continues...
I have not been able to get out much lately which accounts for the lack of posts. I hope everyone is doing well.

I have been tagged by Anna to supply five of my favorite pictures and comment on why I chose them. So I may be going back into the past to pull some pictures or you may see a couple of new ones I haven't shared yet. It should prove to be an excercise full of memories and warm feelings.
