Christmas Lights 2

This is the opposite extreme of my trials of shooting Christmas lights with ambient light. This is the first home I photographed Sunday evening. Let me know which you prefer. I wanted to get some of the sunset into this shot.

Very nice sky. I like this project.

I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of some of the black in the foreground and still get that great sky, and a closer look at the decorations. Maybe walk closer and tilt the camera up? Of course, sometimes that isn't an option, because you'd be on their front lawn! Little bit longer focal length, maybe?

Regardless, great shot.

I was using my wide angle lens so I was already in thier front yard! I chose the wide angle to get more of the sky. Perhaps the 18 - 200 at a wide setting would have yielded what you were looking for. Closer yet would have probably been best but I was already too close, of course the other option is to knock on the door and ask permission, but you risk getting tied up with a long winded home owner and miss other shots!

Thanks for your comments, they are always appreciated.

They are both nice shots Mike and I can't say I prefer one over the othr because each has its own unique charm.

Hope the snow is not hitting you too badly.
